Sticky hailed from Cullybackey in County Antrim and also owned
"Sticky's Snip Joint", a barber shop in Ballymena
(near the race track). He continued to race through to the
early eighties with a series of distinctive and innovative
cars that are all recorded here for posterity. Sticky's first
involvement in motor sport was rallying but he became frustrated
with the costs involved and decided to move onto the ovals.
An initial flirtation with an apparently ungainly Superstox
(alas no pictures available!) was somewhat unsuccessful and
he joined a number of other drivers who persuaded promoter
Tommy Shaw to start a Hot Rod formula.
I would like to acknowledge the work of Robin
Clark whose superb photographs are used throughout this site.
