The 988 Starlet

Sticky had showed Ormond Christie the way around the ovals in the early days (Ormond had raced a somewhat sluggish Ford Anglia in the first year) but the final Torrens Hot Rod took inspiration from Christie's genius, indeed he was one of the first to follow the trend. It was yet another immaculate car - an all green Toyota Starlet but with Toyota power. Unlike many others Sticky always stuck with the host power unit for his cars. Had a few more people followed his lead with this concept there might have been some manufacturer interest in Hot Rod racing.

The pictures were taken at the Northern Ireland Motorsports Show.

His last outing in Hot Rods was at Hednesford in the Waltham Services hire car, an Escort 2 (again, no pictures unless anyone can oblige!).
