29th April, Swaffham, Chris Jacklin Cup

Rob Sayell won the first heat at Swaffham on Sunday but had to be content with runner up places to Neil Clarke in the second heat and final. Clarke jumping from 7th to third in the series as a result. The meeting formed round one of a two part competition for the Chris Jacklin Photography Trophy and Peter Bourn took the lead in the competition, 14 points clear at the top taking full advantage of the double points awarded to white and yellow grade drivers. The 20 lap final saw Clarke overtake Bourn on lap 6 of a very hectic race whilst Sayell battled with Gary Granger for third. Eventually Sayell went round Granger, Bourn and backmarking Harry Nicklin in one move with 8 laps to go. But despite hunting down the distant leader just missed out in a dash for the line. Granger held on for 3rd from Hodges 4th with Bourn 5th. Sayell pulled away from the pack after passing Bourn on lap 9 of the first heat, Hodges moving up to second with three laps to go with Bourn winning out on a good scrap for third. A drier second heat saw the fastest time of the day with winner Clarke averaging 15.26seconds a lap. Sayell and Hodges came through from the back for 2nd and 3rd respectively.
