24th June, Buxton, Simon Pashley Cup

Rob Sayell extended his lead in the Image Wheels sponsored, Grand Prix Midget Championship at Buxton Raceway on Sunday 24th June, writes Paul Jones.

Ben Pashley led the Simon Pashley Memorial Cup Feature Final. He was then passed by a flying Ez Walker on lap 4. Gary Jones then passed Pashley on lap 7. Then came lap 8 when Neil Clarke and Steve Piggins came together inducing the first caution of the day and the sidelining of both cars. In lap nine we saw the second caution of the day when Pashley spun. From the restart Sayell passed Walker and was never challenged for the lead he had taken. Walker held onto second from Gary Jones who took third place despite a last bend attempt to pass him by Andrew Bilby. The first support race saw a runaway victory for Gary Granger, his fourth Buxton win of the season. Heat 2 then saw Granger sidelined on lap 5 with suspension trouble. Victory was then taken by Sayell from Walker and Jones.
