Sunday 1st July - Arena Essex - Cliff Davis Memorial
by Anne Sayell from Midget News

At a very memorable meeting at Arena on 1lst July, the Shreeve brothers stopped the VW charge taking the chequered flag in two out of the three events. It was memorable because by the end of the day most drivers and pit crews resembled coal miners fresh off their shifts! The ballast used to make up the pit area seemingly from railway sidings flew up in the wind and into everywhere else too! Besides that a good turn out led to more exciting racing, with Peter Shreeve winning the Cliff Davis Memorial Trophy. Harry Sayell managed to clinch race two after after a collision took out several of the main contenders early on and David Shreeve held on successfully to take the flag in race three, a win rather expected after his showing at Wisbech last month.
