September 1988, Ringwood, Bill Boarer Memorial
Report from Short Circuit, November 1988
First
stop for the midgets in September was Ringwood on the 10th
where Harry Lowe made a welcome return to the victory rostrum
winning the Bill Boarer memorial in convincing fashion. Harry
made the most of his blue grading to take the lead on lap
three and quickly opened up a half lap margin on his pursuers.
Basil Craske looked to be the driver most likely to offer
any real challenge to Lowe but he had quite a tussle with
Dave Wesbroom and Harry Sayell before he slotted into second
place and set off after the leader. With both drivers lapping
at the same speed and Lowe having no problems passing backmarkers
he was able to maintain his advantage to the flag. Sayell
finished third ahead of Wesbroom, Steve Jobson and David Shreeve.
The supporting
races provided a brace of wins for Craske. In the first race
Shreeve opened up a healthy lead in the early stages and despite
the chasing pack containing Craske, Sayell, Wesbroom and Brake
closing the gap, he was on for his first win, Inexperience
told though when he left his braking too late, drifting wide
on the pit bend to let the pack throught and dropping to fifth
with Lowe sixth. Basil had an easy win in the final leading
home Wesbroom, Lowe, Jobson, Brake and Sayell.
