20th July 1986 - Great Gidding
Report by Dave Cox from Motoring News
Nigel Brake set the pace in the Graham Hill Memorial at
the Club's first ever visit to Great Gidding chased by Anthony
Brewer and Todd Richards. Brewer passed Brake on the home
straight and opened up a small lead while a charging Graham
Sinclair piled in. With three cars parked in the middle of
the track overtaking was difficult and Brewer maintained his
lead to the chequered flag ahead of Brake, the dicing Harry
Lowe / Basil Craske, Sinclair and Richards.
Brake was the early leader in the Angel Hotel Championship
race until Lowe went through with David Wesbroom, Graham Sinclair,
Brewer and Paul Sinclair dicing for the minor places. Lowe
stretched his lead to half a lap over Brake while Brewer harried
Graham Sinclair slipping through to third with two laps to
run, with Paul Sinclair fifth and Craske sixth. Lowe's win
moved him into third in the Angel Hotel Series behind Paul
Sinclair and Craske.
Brake set the pace in the final with Wesbroom and Lowe in
hot pursuit. Lowe was soon through into the lead with Paul
Sinclair in second. Despite his valiant efforts Sinclair failed
to catch Lowe who took his second win with Brewer battling
through to third ahead of Graham Sinclair, Craske and Wesbroom.
