6th July 1986 - Arena Essex.
Report from Motoring News by Dave Cox
Harry Lowe was in fine form at Arena Essex on July 6 taking
his converted Spartan FF to victory in round four of the Angel
Hotel Championship and the Tornado Trophy final. Nigel Brake
led the opening race chased by Harry Lowe and Todd Richards
with Basil Craske, Paul Sinclair and Mick Bonner rapidly making
up places. Craske took up the lead with five laps to run and
held on to win from Paul Sinclair, Brake, Harry Lowe John
Lowe and Graham Sinclair.
Brake set the pace in the Angel Hotel Championship race until
the battling quartet of Harry Lowe, Bonner, Paul Sinclair
and Craske went through nose to tall with Bonner trying to
pass Lowe. Bonner tried to box him behind a back marker but
Lowe was having none of it and in the fray Paul Sinclair nipped
ahead of Bonner. Craske tried the same move only to have the
door shut firmly which left him bouncing over Bonner's rear
wheel into a spin. Harry Lowe had a car's length lead over
Paul Sinclair which he held to the flac, with a chastened
Bonner third ahead of Craske, Graham Sinclair and Brake.
Brake again set the pace in the Tornado Trophy final chased
initially by Todd Richards until the foursome of Harry Lowe,
Bonner, Paul Sinclair and Craske came through. Harry Lowe
took his second win just ahead of Bonner, Paul Sinclair and
Craske with John Lowe fifth and Brake sixth.
