24th March - Wimbledon

The opening meeting of the season only attracted 10 cars to Plough Lane. Newcomer Nigel Brake, a former Superstox driver, beat holder Alf Boarer to win the Eric Fretten Shield. Brake also powered home to take the £100 trophy final. Scottish Champion Dermot McGivern who smashed the chassis of his Dastle in last October's London Championship missed the opening meeting, but is hoping to buy another Dastle - the one formerly owned by South African born Ian Fraser-Kerr
