Midget news
from Short Circuit - May 1981 by Ann Freebody
Last minute preparations for the first meeting
of the year produced the usual tales of woe and distress,
and some success stories. Gary Pollard had run out of pop-rivets,
John Blackburn had rebuilt his Mamba and produced gentle sounds
of revving from his garage late at night, and also among the
white grades Alan Roberts had rebuilt the old 'Radio Luxembourg'
car which was seen out in practice sessions at Arena Essex
and the handling certainly seemed much improved.
Mike Clements whose unusual car made only
one appearance last season is reputed to be all ready for
the off this year. We also hear that Geoff Hughes (Senior
and Junior) have acquired a bus for transport, at least, we
presume it will be able to carry the Midgets in and not to
carry fare paying passengers!
Steve Elliot's new car looks very good indeed,
a real potential winner, but what are you going to do with
it Steve! Mick Bonner's experimental 1500cc car was not yet
completed at the time of writing but was said to be making
good progress. Fixtures secretary June Cochrane is off to
America for three weeks.
