The Midget British was contested this year
over 30 laps at Northampton on May 17, and was run in torrential
rain. Drivers suffered badly from visibility problems, but
the race was close, Geoff Hughes Jnr and Snr both took advantage
of good grid positions and although constantly chivvied by
Gary Pollard and Malcolm Goodman they held their positions,
with John Lowe ultimately taking third spot.
Supporting races were won by Goodman, and
Alan Fretten, with the Final restarted after John Lowe ended
up parked on top of Eric Fretten. Hughes senior was the winner
from Pollard and Hughes Jnr.
British Champlonship: 1st Geoff Hughes jnr,
2nd Geoff Hughes snr, 3rd John Lowe, 4th Malcolm Goodman,
5th Alan Fretten, 6th Gary Pollard.
