Sunday 19 June 1977,
Alwatlton
Report from Peterborough Standard
Grand Prix Midgets
made their racing debuts at Alwalton during Sunday's Motorsport
Promotions meeting and judging by the acclaim they received
from the crowd it will not be their last appearance.
Just back from the
World Championships in West Germany the cars, like overgrown
Dinky machines produced some fine racing in their three events.
So keen were some
of the Midget specialists that they, Brian Harding, brother
Fred and Wayne Doidge came from Brighton on Saturday and camped
overnight in readiness for Sunday's meeting.
Luton's Terry Teden
won the first race after starting near the front but in the
other races it was the faster men from the back of the grid
who finally got to grips with the circuit to power through
to win.
Race two saw Norwich's
Basil Craske fight a battle royal to pip Malcolm Goodman of
Middlesex for the honours while Goodman managed to win race
three.
