1976

27th March 1976, Wimbledon
Report from London Diary, Spedeweek no 5

With such a fine programme of Hot Rods, some Spedeworth officials were surprised at the crowd's enthusiasm for the Grand Prix Midgets, with the majority staying on for the last race, the ninth after the (hot rod) London Championship. This was most encouraging and all three Midget races were excellent. Frank Boyles showed that he had lost none of his speed with two wins. Roland Parker won the other race and got a second, veteran Paul Emery had two second places, 1975 Points Champion Malcolm Goodman was second in the last race. I was sorry to learn of the death of Derek Kisby (Midget 99). Despite missing many meetings last year due to ill health he finished high up in the points table and his neat car was always a credit to the sport.

Race one: 1st Frank Boyles, 2nd Paul Emery, 3rd Roland Parker, 4th John Smith, 5th Keith Fransella, 6th Dennis Hooper, 7th Brian Harding, 8th John Graham

Race two: 1st Roland Parker, 2nd Paul Emery, 3rd Brian Harding, 4th Keith Fransella, 5th Alf Boarer, 6th Fred Harding, 7th Malcolm Goodman, 8th John Graham

Race three: 1st Frank Boyles, 2nd Malcolm Goodman
