Report by 'Man on the Terrace' from Spedeweek no 34
At Aldershot the kings of speed shattered the track record
with Mick Bonner's Midget getting round in 14.6 seconds. With
both the MARC and Spedeworth Midgets racing we had three heats
and a final. The opening race was won by Bob Elson from Keith
Fransella and Fred Harding. Race two had ex-Hot Rod ace Malcolm
Goodman beating Mick Bonner and Ray Perry. Race three was
the fastest with Mick Bonner doing the 14.6 and beating Malcolm
and Bill Boarer. The final should have been a great race but
Mick hit trouble and landed in the fence leaving Frank Boyles
to come through to hold off Paul Emery and Malcolm Goodman.
The most noticable thing about the racing was how many of
the drivers are capableof getting into the first three given
that bit of luck that is always needed in oval racing.
