Sunday 3rd March 1974 - White City
London Diary by Man on the Terrace - Spedeweek number 6
The Hot Rods were strongly supported by the Midgets including
members of the Midget Auto Racing Club. In their opening race
Frank Boyles was just able to catch Paul Emery. Paul had a
nasty shock near the end of last year when his Midget was
in a practice collision with a Banger going the opposite way
round a track, which I hope I do not need to say was not run
by Spedeworth. How these two cars were allowed to be at practice
at the same time I do not know. Paul has repaired the car
and his form on the track is as good as ever. Norbert Dietsch
(MARC) took third place.
Paul Emery was involved in a nasty pile up with two other
cars in the second race. Frank Boyles spun in this one and
Keith Fransella won from Bob Elson and Dave Cox. Boyles was
back on form in the third race to win from a most promising
new driver Derek Kisby and John Holtham. As always the Hot
Rods and Midgets were at their very best on the fast White
City circuit.
