Monday 27th August 1972 - White City -
British Championship Report by 'Son of Man on the Terrace'
from Spedeweek no 32
Twenty two cars lined up for ten miles of
the White City track and after those forty laps Rod Tanswell
had the Championship for himself Hard luck to Frank Boyles
and ex-Champion Mick Bonner, both of whom hit other cars,
Frank when in the lead and Mick on the first lap. Well done
to Rod for winning, white top driver Julian Bye for a great
drive in second place and Derek Johnson for his third place.
Two more Midget matters. First, welcome to
Griff Griffiths, ex MARC star driver who is racing under an
experimental licence (hard luck at White City Griff). Second,
is it true that all square box type Midgets are to be banned?
If it is, 1 for one think it will be a disaster for Spedeworth
and Midget car racing, the Midgets need all the cars they
can get and we can't ban such good drivers as Mick Bonner
for having, the wrong shape car, CAN WE???
