Report from Wheelspin, November 1972
The evening started off with a Midget race
which was won in fine style by British and National Champion
Rod Tanswell M1 in the very impressive Fireball Mk 4. Some
way back second man M31 Dave Cox was being hard pressed by
M34 Frank Boyles. In the trophy race Frank Boyles looked a
certain winner in the lead by a quarter-lap when a drive shaft
parted company with the gearbox and his race ended. This let
M12 Barry Martin through to take the lead which he wasn’t
to lose. Frantic efforts by Rod Tanswell failed to materialise
as he had to be contented with second place.
