Comments: Returned to the championship in 2009 after a year away. Straight back into the winning habit taking all three wins at the Tourist Trophy at Cowdenbeath. Mark originally joined the Midgets back in 1997



Dave Barry - 6
Car: Scorpian
Ex BriSCA F1 racer Dave has bought Jonathan Pooley's multi championship winning car for his Midget debut in 2011.



Carl Checkley - No 7
Car: Scorpian
Comments: Former Classic Hot Rod racer Carl started racing the ex Gary Bonner Fireball, itself something of a classic racer having been built originally in the mid 70s. Sadly the Fireball was written off early in 2011 at Birmingham and a Scorpian chassis was sourced as a replacement.





Pete Dorrell - No 8

Major Titles:
Comments: Pete's immaculate cars have graced the Midgets paddock for the last three seasons after he had a taster of the racing a little while back in 2000.




David Bonser - No 10
Car: BMC
Newcomer to the Midgets (late 2010 season) who previously raced 'Incarods' in the Midlands. Dave will be driving the ex Allen Herbert BMC




Marc de Land - No 15
Car: SRV (Vauxhall)
Major Titles: 2009 British Champion & Top Newcomer in 2009, Derek Kisby Trophy 2010, June Cochrane Trophy 2011
Comments: The Brummy gardener started his racing career with the Grand Prix Midgets in 2009 racing the ex Harry Sayell SRV. Son of the late Gordon de Land from the Hot Rod scene.



Andrew Bilby - No 16

Major Titles: Derek Kisby Trophy, Southern Champion 2009
Comments: Andrew is a member of the notorious 1661 racing team. Andrew keeps his head down and lets his driving do the talking. A top 6 driver who will be fancied to have a great 2010 season.



Luke Retchless - no 19

Major Titles: Derek Kisby Trophy 2011
Great looking self built car which made its debut in the 2010 season.

Clifford Bunn - No 23
Car: Firehawk
Major Titles: 2008 Bill Boarer Memorial Championship, 2008 June Cochrane Memorial Champion, 2007 Midlands Points Champion
Comments: Clifford had a very strong and consistent 2008 winning two titles and finishing up runner up in both the World championship and National points championship.
He has build a new front engine which made its debut during the 2010 season.

Jonathan Pooley - No 31

Major Titles: 2008, 2010 & 2011 World Champion, 2010 & 2011 European Champion, 2008 & 2010 Points Champion, 2008, 2010 and 2011 National Champion. Northern & Midland Champion 2009
Comments: Jonathan is part of the infamous Pooley stable. The current Scorpian is a third generation design and is currently the best presented car. Jonathan has come of age in the last two years and is getting better and better - one of the main men to beat in the formula.





Daniel Pooley - No 32

Comments: Younger brother to Jonathan is now starting to come out of the shadows and is showing he has the same driving ability as the rest of the Pooley clan.



Gordon Pooley - No 33

Major Titles: 2005 National Champion, 1998/1996 British Champion, June Cochrane Cup (2009)
Comments: Multi championship winner enters his 21st season in Midgets in 2010 making him the longest serving UK driver. Gordon is a real racer and has said he would rather not race if he was not challanging for titles.

Tony Smith- No 37
Car: Dast-Fire - Ford
New driver to Midgets racing the Terry Baimbridge car. Tony is an ex BriSCA F2 driver



Andrew Lewis - No 38
Car: Scorpian-Vauxhall
Andrew was a newcomer to racing in 2010. Andrew is a Cornishman by birth but now resides in Rotherham. He a friend of the Pooley family who have helped him into the sport.

Marcus Retchless - No 41
Welcome back to Marcus - the original GP Midget racing member of the Retchless family.

Tom Keep - No 46
A warm welcome to Tom Keep, an ex F2 racer from Ludlow who will be racing the Cheetah in 2012.



Steve Young - No 59

Major Titles: 2007 British Champion, Bill Boarer Memorial 2005
Comments: Former F2 and Superstox driver from Coventry. Steve has a very confident racing style with his back end hanging out around each corner. Wet specialist - if it rained every meeting he would be National Points Champion!



Daz Rycroft - No 69

Major Titles: 2003 European Championship & East of England Championship, 2002 Casa Trophy & Simon Pashley Trophy
Daz is a welcome returnee to racing in 2011 in his smart self built car.



Chris Neal - no 74
Car: Dart-BMC
Major Titles: 2011 British Champion
Joins the club in 2011 after a couple of seasons competing in the Midland 'Incarod' formula.



Allen Herbert - No 76
Car: BMC
Major Titles: Southern Champion 2000
Comments: Current Club Chairman. The level headed man from the midlands has returned to the club after a couple of years out of the sport.

Neil Clarke - No 77

Comments: One of the real characters of the club - the man from Brum will help anyone with advice or repairs even if they don't ask for it. His passion for racing is the same today as it was when he first started racing before the war (WW1). Seriously though, Neil has raced Hot Rods, Stock Rods and Super Rods over the years and is our second longest serving driver (entering his 19th season). Neil also tops the career points scoring table for active drivers.

 



Barry Goldsby - No 78

Comments: Welcome return to GP Midgets for our former Chairman.



Klaus Kilianski - 93

World Champion (6 times World Champion)
Comment: Klaus is well known as a top line Midget racer - he first won the World Championship in 1988 and with another win at Ipswich in 2009 brings his career tally World Champion to six. Klaus comes all the way from Germany to race with us.

Toni Scheepens - No 100
Car: SST Westfield -Engine Ford Kent
Major Titles: Multiple Dutch Champion, Multiple Belgium Champion, Multiple German Champion, European Champion 1994 World Champion 1996, Winner of the first Peter Scheepens Memorial and many more races won.
Comments: Toni is more than 30 years active in Grand Prix Midgets and almost 40 years active in short circuit racing 2 seasons of Superstox and 5 seasons in Hot Rods.
