A very wet race for the World Championship at Ipswich. A strong team for the World final included Arnold Larsen and Carl-Erik Kristensen once again plus Poul Pedersen in an Escort.

Profile of Poul Pedersen (from World Championship programme). 'Poul the butcher', as this 40 year old driver is affectionately known to his friends in Denmark. married with two daughters he has a large butchers shop just outside Copenhagen. He has driven all over Europe and is currently lying 4th in the Danish Championship. Started racing in a Mini, swithced to Skoda and currently campaigns an Escort.

1974 was also the first year that Dutch, German and Belgian drivers contested the world championship and so the previous England v Denmark test series evolved into England v Europe with three rounds at Yarmouth Stadium (Tuesday 16th July), Aldershot (Thursday 18th July) and Wimbledon (Saturday 20th July). England won the series 2-1.

Report from the last round which was printed in a subsequent race programme... The first section of the match consisted of three 6 lap races for six cars. Paul Smyth, Les Trussler and Carl Erik Kristensen were the winners leaving England 17-13 ahead. Section 2 included two 8 lap events for 8 cars, both were won by our visitors - Carl Erik Kristensen and Arnold Larsen, but England still led 38-33. This was followed at once by Section3, a 5 lap race for 4 cars only in which Larsen and Kristensen scored a 5-1 to leave England only 39-38 down with the 15 lap all cars race to come. This last event was won by Scotland's superb Kenny Ireland, driving for Europe, followed by Barry Lee, Duffy Collard, arnold Larsen, Carl Erik Kristensen and Paul Smyth, leaving Europe, despite some penalty points the winners 58-55.

A European Championship was held for the first time - at Kaldenkirchen in Germany. Denmark was represented by Arnold Larsen and Poul Pedersen. The race was won by Barry Lee from Martin Freestone.

Late in the season Barry Lee and Bob Howe travelled to Denmark to contest the Grundig Grand Race
