1st September 2010 - TV and Magazine Work

The SMRC Mini Coopers had their first away round of the 2010 season at Oulton Park (31st July) and I have completed the commentary on that today. HGreat to see own of the characters of last year's championship, Michael 'Rambo' Rowan back with the Minis in in the Tynecastle Garage guest car. The show should be on Motors TV later in the week. The latest round of the Competition Car Insurance Ford Fiesta Championship is also on Motors this week along with the Castle Combe 60th Anniversary meeting.

I have also started work on some articles for my next magazine which will include items on the BriSCA Heritage boys, a six wheel Midget (!) and another lost circuit, possibly Rayleigh.

1st August 2010 - Next TV Show

I've just recorded the commentary for the third show in the Scottish Mini Cooper Cup series which is shown on Motors TV. This week I should also be voicing the Scottish Legends which was contested up at Knockhill last weekend. My next ITV4 commentary is this coming weekend at Snetterton.

17th July 2010 - Next TV Show

My next TV commentary this year is scheduled to be broadcast on Saturday 24th July (Motors TV) with further opportunities to see again throughout the week. It features the Competition Car Insurance Ford Fiesta Championship with two races for Classes A&B and two for Class C. I've also voiced round three of the Scottish Tarmack Rally Championship from Crail which also airs on Motors TV.

21st May 2010 - Roy Wood to Appear in Heritage F2

1960s and 70s Superstox star driver 'Kinky' Roy Wood will be racing in the BriSCA Hertiage F2s at Aldershot Raceway on Sunday 20th June 2010. This story starts back in 2006 when Roy kindly provided some photographs and information for my third oval racing book, Backtrack. Some time afterwards I was chatting to Heritage Scrutineer and short oval enthusiast John Graham who mentioned that he would be interested in building a replica of Roy's Turner based Superstox from the late 1960s.

Knowing of John's interest I managed to get an invite for Roy to attend the recent BriSCA Heritage press day at Northampton and he met up with John. The result was that John has offered Roy the chance to race his current heritage car, a late 60's Bill Batten replica, at the upcoming Heritage meeting. John is also going to re-livery the car to Roy's original colours.

To my mind this is exactly what the Heritage scene is all about promoting and will surely be a meeting for long terms fans to reslish. Sadly I am going have to miss it as I am commited to broadcast work elsewhere in the country but I am keeping in touch with Roy as he has very kindly written up some articles for future issues of Oval Track Classic magazine.

19th May 2010 - We're On a Classic!

Many thanks to Tristam Barden, who is a circuit racer, for letting me have pictures of his Mini which must be the first and only competition car so far to sport our magazine logo! It would be good to see a few short oval cars with the stickers as well but given my own interest in both cirucit racing and short oval sport I was really pleased to see these. Thanks Tristam!
